February 2017: Songs for a New World
Jason Robert Brown’s song cycle Songs for a New World was the first piece of musical theatre I worked on. It was staged in one of Durham University’s beautiful and atmospheric chapels. I worked hard with the four actors to establish cohesive storylines across the production. Whilst the characters move around in both time and location (from the deck of Columbus’s sailing ship to the balcony of a New York skyscraper), they remain ostensibly the same people.
